The BMW M4 CS joins the esteemed M series line-up, striking a delightful balance between the track-tailored M4 CSL and the versatile M4 Competition Coupé. Set to begin production in July 2024, with the first cars reaching customers by autumn.

Under the bonnet, the M4 CS features a robust 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine equipped with BMW’s M TwinPower Turbo technology. This engine includes cutting-edge elements such as twin mono-scroll turbochargers and a high-precision injection system designed to enhance both power output and fuel efficiency. It delivers a formidable 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque, ensuring rapid low-end response and sustained high-rev performance, ideal for both track outings and everyday driving.

Transmission and Drivetrain

Equipped with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission featuring Drivelogic, the M4 CS offers tailored driving modes ranging from smooth and efficient to aggressively sporty. This transmission is complemented by the M xDrive system, BMW’s all-wheel-drive technology, which enhances traction and dynamic stability by optimally distributing torque between the front and rear axles. The system primarily delivers a rear-wheel bias, preserving the dynamic driving characteristics we love about the M series and adapting to provide all-wheel drive when necessary.

Chassis and Handling

The adaptive M suspension in the M4 CS has been specifically tuned for both the front double-joint spring strut and rear five-link axles to enhance the coupe’s agility and responsiveness. This setup includes M-specific modifications to kinematics and elastokinematics, aimed at optimising handling and precision during cornering. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with M Compound brakes, featuring ventilated, six-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston floating callipers at the rear, providing superior stopping power and resistance to fade under high-performance driving conditions.

Lightweight Construction and Aerodynamics

The M4 CS extensively uses carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) to reduce weight and lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity to enhance handling and performance. Components such as the roof, front splitter, and rear diffuser contribute to significant weight savings and improve the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the M4 CS combines luxury with sport-focused ergonomics. M Carbon bucket seats provide both comfort and support during dynamic driving, aligning with the car’s high-performance credentials. The latest BMW Operating System 8.5 offers an intuitive interface with a curved display that prioritises driver-focused interactions, enhancing both the vehicle’s usability and technological sophistication.
